Great tip Amy on the 1/4 inch seam.

You also have to take into account that the thread size from your machine is going to add to the seem allowance of your block size.

Testing your seam allowance is a MUST for all quilters. Even sewing on different fabric can can throw off the 1/4 seam allowance.

When I first started quilting, I could never figure out why my blocks always seemed to be about 1/8" off from what was called for. Now I understand.
